Mike Wattles DMD

Dr. Wattles grew up in south central Illinois in the coal mining town of Gillespie IL. He attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale receiving a degree in Biology, and SIU- School of Dental Medicine Edwardsville for his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He graduated with honors from dental school and has been practicing for over 2 decades.

Dr. Wattles is also currently a member of the US Army Dental Corps. After commissioning in 2012, he was the dental officer in charge of a mobile dental unit with a medical battalion support hospital. Currently he is attached as a dental officer to the Joint Force Medical Detachment based in Springfield, IL. He has been activated for several weeks at a time in the past and most recently for the Joint Readiness Tactical Course.

Dr. Wattles’ small town roots have stayed with him during his lifetime. He enjoys fishing and camping, spending time with family and friends grilling and attending sporting events. His greatest joy is visiting his 5 children who are spread all over the Midwest and South.

Maintain Your Smile was the right practice in the right place when Dr. Wattles joined us two years ago. Practicing traditional dentistry in the friendly atmosphere of a small town was “just what the doctor ordered”.
