David Feldhaus DMD

“Dentistry isn’t just about fixing teeth. It’s about restoring confidence and building relationships. Every patient in my chair deserves to feel heard, informed, and genuinely cared for.”

Born in Greenville, KY and raised in Louisville, Dr. Feldhaus grew up with a strong sense of community and service that still shapes how he practices. He is a proud graduate of the University of Louisville, earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011 and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2016.

He began his career in family and pediatric dentistry, where he developed a passion for teaching kids and parents the value of good dental habits early and recognized how much accessible care matters in underserved communities. That commitment deepened when he joined a mobile dental practice in Louisville, bringing treatment directly to patients in homes, parking lots, and community spaces. Over time, his interest in comprehensive care led him toward general dentistry, where he could apply the full range of skills he built in school.

In 2022, Dr. Feldhaus moved to Loves Park, IL and joined Maintain Your Smile Dental. The move was a family decision, inspired by his wife Gwen, a Rockford native and Doctor of Physical Therapy. Together they have planted new roots and are raising their daughter, Maiya, who was born shortly after the move.

The first and only dentist in his family, Dr. Feldhaus was always drawn to a career where he could use his hands to help others. To him, dentistry is the meeting point of art and science: a way to improve not just oral health, but the confidence and relationships behind every smile. When he is not at the office, you will find him exploring his new hometown with his family, swapping stories with neighbors, and holding onto the small-town values that started his journey.
